Residential

All Residential insulation applications require that the spray foam be CCMC(Canadian Construction Material Centre) certified.  The Spray Foam Company installing it also has to have a certified applicator.  This is regulated by the federal government as part of the National Building Code of Canada.  If the spray foam is installed improperly it can be harmful to your health.  However if it's installed correctly it will be the best decision you will ever make for your home.

We at South Sask Foam & Coatings are CCMC certified and follow the CAN/ULC S705.2-05 requirments for spray foam application. We have been certified by Morrison Hershfield to spray 2lb closed cell SealTite Eco Foam.

In Residential applications we start with a min of 2" of 2 lb SealTite One HFO(CCMC certified) closed cell spray foam.  At this thickness it creates a vapor barrier and completes the insulating envelope.  This also provides an R-value of about R 10.2.  R value isn't as important with closed cell spray foam as the traditional insulation's as it is best rated on it's efficiency (how much heat or cold air it will keep in the building).

SealTite One HFO Spray Foam is rated at 90% efficient at 2" and 95% at 2.5 inches, 96% at 3" and 97% at 4".

SealTite One HFO also provides a barrier to Radon Gas which comes up from the earth under a house and into the basement. If SealTite One HFO Spray Foam is sprayed first over a gravel base before the cement is poured or the wood foundation is built it will provide a Radon Gas Barrier as well as a vapor and air barrier eliminating the need for poly.

Tests conducted by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has shown that walls installed with closed-cell spray foam have a racking strength up to 300% greater than walls without.  Racking is the side to side movement or swaying of a wall or roof.

Typical places you will find Spray Foam are :

Exterior walls cavities

Attic floors and Roof Decking

Under concrete slabs or basement floors

Box ends of Joist spaces

Crawl Space walls and floors
